For my new Prolog tutorial job, I need a laptop, to show slides on the bamer.
Until I have my own, I lended my father's, with no LAN connection...
Because Windows ME had troubles, of course, I decided to just install the latest Ubuntu distro and see how that works.
Of course, I wouldn't be able to upgrade anything via apt-get, because I wouldn't be able to connect to the internet. But I thought that Ubuntu comes well-packed, with all the basic stuff you need.
Well, when I wanted to install Prolog on it (last-minute style in the mensa, of course), it told me that it lacked any C-Compiler. What the...? A Linux without a C-Compiler? It's true: http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20051219#2
