Today, the 5th of May, the dutch celebrate that the Germans left in 1945. Yesterday, in contrast, was the day to mourn those who died in the second world war. On this occasion, the Concertgebouw brought Frommermann on stage - a really good dutch vocal group that covers  (among others) the Comedian Harmonists. A nice way to show that there were sad stories on both sides (3 of the Comedian Harmonists were jewish) and that not only bad things came from Germany.

I had a great time watching them - it's not only about the very professional singing, also about men proudly standing around in suits (the best moments were when someone was not singing, but waiting for his turn - very difficult, but the Frommermann guys handled those moments with funny grace).

Here is a sad song (with suits):

And a funny song (without suits):

Both are also tragic, since they both document how the Comedian Harmonists dealt with the Nazi regime. They made fun of it ("Der Onkel Bumba aus Kulumba tanzt nur Rumba"), but eventually had to leave ("Morgen muss ich fort von hier").
